Jo Dee Messina Told Tim McGraw the Truth, and They Both Cried – Taste of Country Nights, On Demand

The 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship was held at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, despite the heat. With high 90s temps, it's hot.

Due to Cole Swindell's popular song "She Had Me at Heads Carolina," Jo Dee Messina has seen a rebirth.

When she visited Taste of Country Nights, I wanted to know who she was friends with when she debuted with "Heads Carolina, Tails California" in 1996.

She confesses she had few pals at initially.

"My circle was really small, I didn't know anybody," she admits. "I was new to Nashville, I met Tim [McGraw] and Byron (producer Byron Gallimore) and a couple other people."

"All that networking never happened because I didn't drink, party, or go to bars."

"Somebody heard me here, somebody heard me there, and then I got a deal, but McGraw made that happen."

Listen to Jo Dee discuss her early career and new music, including "Just to Be Loved." She also discusses Tim McGraw's assistance. It sounds like they caught up after a while. Her heart was revealed then.
