According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the veteran running back reached an agreement with the New York Jets on Monday for a contract that will pay him $8.6 million for one year.
Cook began his professional career with the Minnesota Vikings, where he played for the first six seasons of his career.
During that time, he carried for 5,993 yards and 47 touchdowns while averaging a respectable 4.7 yards per carry.
He has been selected for the Pro Bowl each of the past four years, a span in which he has also averaged more than one thousand rushing yards every season.
The conclusion of a summer filled with uncertainty over the future of one of the top running backs in the NFL is provided by the decision to sign with the Jets.
The Vikings cut Cook on June 9 after they were unable to find a trade partner with another team,
which allowed them to avoid a cap cost of more than $14 million in 2023. Cook was linked to all four teams in the AFC East before to this contract,
but he stated in the weeks following his release that he would prefer to play for his native Miami Dolphins instead of any of the other teams in the division.
